Trail Bells

This is a little Swiss Bell that makes a soft tinkling sound, can be used for many purposes. While horseback riding, riders use the bell - attached to the horse's cinch or breast collar - to warn other trail users and critters that someone is coming. Commercial packers have used these bells for keeping track of stock in meadows. The Pocket Disc - A diversion for all ages

What is a pocket disc? Something that all ages and dog lovers are talking about. Why? How to Prevent Blisters & Treat Those You May Have

To Prevent:

Eliminate moisture and chafing and be especially aware of your heel, toes, and ball of your foot which can get sweaty or rubbed if your shoes/boots don't fit right. New shoes should be worn in the house or on short walks to make sure they'll be comfortable when hiking. Bristers on your toes indicate too little space in front of the shoes, so buy shoes with a high toe allowance inside so you have room to wiggle your toes.

In cold weather, insulated toes keep you warm, but can retain sweat. Use wicking socks to keep your skin dry. In warmer weather, ventilating shoes are great for most day-hiking on flat terrain because, when wet, they dry quicker than leather shoes. And if you plan to cross streams, bring extra lightweight shoes or sandals along. A couple of tips include putting a couple of layers of duct tape over your heel and ball of your foot before putting on socks, and remember that it's O.K. to rest every so often becausse it also is an opportunity to take off your shoes and socks & wait a while to dry your feet.

Treatment:

If you feel rubbing in a certain spot, apply moleskin or tape so a blister won't form. If already blistered, don't burst it so you won't get an infection. If the blister is huge, drain the fluid by puncturing the blister at the edge with a sterilized needle. Best yet, before a blister starts to form, cover the whole area wither with tape or moleskin.
